From the outside this bath tub concept by Aleksander Mukomelov has a minimalist touch to it, but if you check out the functions that are built into this thing, it’s not so minimalist after all. There is a media console, which lets you select music, adjust the water jets and even make a selection from an integrated aromatherapy. For more details and photos see the Behance project site.

Feast your eyes on these lovely pieces of furniture by award winning design studio Designschneider. This studio was founded already in 1993 by Michael Schneider and is now located Berlin, Germany. Next to furniture, they also craft sanitary ware, tableware and even coffins and urns. Their vision is to design products that are unique, beautiful and functional at the same time. Excellent print ads for Sandisk

It seems that the recent trend towards minimalist poster designs continues to spread. Now also larger companies are engaging in this kind of visual communication and the latest print ads for the Micro 16 GB USB Flash Drive by Sandisk are a perfect example. I especially love the one with Elvis. This campaign has been created by Montreal based agency Nolin BBDO.

Minimalist globe set by Nendo

Have a look at these gorgeous black & white globes by Japanese designers Nendo. They all come suspended in a white steel ring and stand and are available in various diameters.

“…We were also interested in creating a new kind of globe that would be more emotional, rather than simply presenting information. By reducing the amount of information, and rendering the oceans in white and landmasses in black, the corona globe highlights the reliefs of islands and coastlines. …”

Featured Design Studio: Ubica

Ubica is a young and versatile design studio based in Barcelona, Spain and was founded by Gloria Altimira and Marc de Antonio in 2006. They are active in various fields of design like e.g. architecture, automotive or boating, but it was their interior design creations that got my attention. Support Haiti victims by buying minimalist Hitchcock posters

Last week, Graphic Designer Matt Needle from Cardiff, Wales asked me, if I could help him out. He created a beautiful series of Alfred Hitchcock movie posters, which he sells either individually or as a set of six. For all remaining Hitchcock prints in stock, he wants to donate 50% of all poster sales to Haiti Aid and so far he was able to raise a couple of hundred $. Of course, I agreed to help him spread the word about this brilliant initiative called HITCHCOCK 4 HAITI and therefore, I would like to ask you guys to help Matt sell off his remaining prints for the good cause. Great minimalist movie poster concepts

After featuring the awesome TV series poster collection of Albert Exergian, here is similar concept – this time the theme is well-known movies and their sequels like e.g. Star Wars or Back to the Future. Especially the latter one is implemented in a very clever way. These posters were created by the guys at SHOOT THE GLASS and they are also selling them on their website.

I guess, almost everybody has heard of landscape photography as being one of the many subjects that a photographer can specialize in. But seascape photography? Please raise you hands, if you heard the term before…anyone? Yeah, I thought so. Me neither. Until today, when I came across the magnificent portfolio of Jeff Friesen. In this post I would like to feature his series called “Beyond Here”. This series consists of shots of the horizon on the Atlantic Ocean. Inspiring music video by Rimantas Lukavicius

Last week, I was blown away by this music video and I just had to share it with you guys! It was directed by Rimantas Lukavicius and the song is “I’ll be gone” by MARIO BASANOV & VIDIS feat JAZZU. Normally, this music would not really be my cup of tea, but the video totally makes up for that. Have a look for yourself and let me know what think of it. Minimalist logistics center by Jarosch Architektur

Have a look at this exceptional piece of architecture – a logistics center for Partyrent, which was designed by the German studio Jarosch Architektur. It is located in Frankfurt, Germany, features black lacquered tiles from the outside and a mostly white interior. This little anecdote by a trainee is simple proof that this building can easily be seen as something completely different from a logistics center:

“Even if its dedication doesn’t date back long, the new premises of Partyrent are no secret anymore. “A friend yesterday told me proudly, that he discovered a new, cool and noble top-disco” reports Fridjof Kaul, trainee at Partyrent. “But I had to answer simply: You dork, that’s my workplace.” the apprentice goes on.”
